“We appeal
to our partners from the Security Council of the United Nations Organization
with a request to immediately summon a meeting of the UN Security Council,” the
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said to journalists while visiting
one of the military units near Kyiv on Thursday, May 22.
“We will
provide evidence that just the Russian side makes recurrent attempts to
aggravate the conflict, to cause bloodshed, attempts to capture Ukrainian
border posts and disrupt the presidential elections,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk
stressed.
He reminded
that day had occurred the fourth attempt to break
through the state border of Ukraine from Russia: “Just from the side of the
Russian Federation three KAMAZ cars escorted by the Nyva
were making attempts to break through the state border of Ukraine”.
He continued
Ukrainian border guards had repulsed the attempt to get through the border and immediately
called on representatives of Federal Border Service of Russia with a demand to ensure
order from the Russian side.
“As soon
as Ukraine launched national unity roundtables, as soon as we have found
certain compromise, including the memorandum [of understanding and peace], as
soon as everyone realized the situation in East Ukraine has changed – the terrorists,
supported by Russia, started attacks, aggravating the situation and provoking
bloodshed,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.
“I
consider the statements of the Russian Federation about
withdrawal of troops from the Ukraine’s border is a bluff. Therefore,
even if the troops are departing, under direct assistance of the Russian authorities,
the armed terrorists who are trained on the Russian territory are making
attempts to break through the state border of Ukraine,” the Prime Minister
stressed.
The Head
of Government informed the law enforcement bodies and Security Service of
Ukraine, aftermath the arrests, received unequivocal evidence of existing
training centers on the territories of military bases in Russia, “that move to
the territory of Ukraine afterwards”.
“Russia
hasn’t abandoned its goal,” the Head of Government highlighted.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine had sent to the
Russian side a note “that it is Russia that is provoking escalation the
conflict in Ukraine and continues supplying with terrorists”.
The Prime
Minister emphasized the presidential elections would be conducted and the law
enforcement bodies and army were ensuring order and law.
“Ukraine
was declared war. We have risen to the challenge and any attempts to disrupt the
presidential elections and capture Ukrainian territory have failed and will fail
in the future,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
