"Today we
have completed all the preparation procedures for submission to the
Stockholm-based Arbitration Court", Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed at a
Government meeting on Friday, May 30.
In order to submit
an appropriate claim for arbitration, underlined Arseniy
Yatsenyuk, the Ukrainian side has paid to "Russia's Gazprom
for all gas supplied at a price that is not subject to dispute: "We have transferred $ 786 million in
payment of natural gas at a price of $268 per thousand cubic meters, which the
company is not disputing. This is our reason to sue, because
we recognize the price solely at $268. "
The Prime
Minister reported a phone conversation with Minister of Energy and Coal
Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Prodan
and CEO of Naftogaz Ukraine Andriy Kobolyev, who are staying in Berlin for tripartite talks aimed at resolving the
crisis. He has noted that the European Union
is represented in the negotiations by EU Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger, and
Russia is represented by head of Russian state–controlled Gazprom
Alexey Miller.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also said that after the end of this round of
negotiations, the European Commission has addressed to hold another round of
trilateral talks aimed at resolving the gas crisis on June 2, in Brussels.
"I emphasize
the clear position of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine: Ukraine will never
accept the price at almost $ 500, and will never buy gas at such a price,"
the PM underlined.
"On Monday
will be held a final round of negotiations, and those negotiations will
conclude either by signing, or by filing a lawsuit, as we clearly stated
before", Arseniy Yatsenyuk
stressed.
