“The Government
will promote the national capital and the domestic manufacturer with all
possible means and tools through a political and economic dialog targeting to
increase volumes of exported Ukrainian origin goods, diversify markets, create
workplaces and improve quality and competitiveness of Ukrainian commodities,”
the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized during a session of
the Government on Wednesday, June 25.
This week the
President of Ukraine is due to sign the second section of the Agreement between
Ukraine and the European Union on a deep and overall free trade area, Arseniy
Yatsenyuk noted: “The political clauses of the Agreement were signed two months
ago and it confirmed invariability of Ukrainian course towards European
integration”.
“No doubt, the
Agreement is planned to upgrade Ukraine’s economy,” the Head of the Government
said.
According to him,
the task of today is to ensure competitiveness of Ukrainian commodity, quality
of Ukrainian origin goods, their access to European and other markets and
creating of workplaces in Ukraine.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
has stressed it is vital in a short term to take measures directed to real
changes in Ukrainian economy structure and also the level of Ukraine’s
companies “changes of standards and shaping of a Ukrainian commodity item fully
compliant with the European requirements”: “It will give us a chance in midterm
to boost exports and conquer new markets”.
“The task is highly ambitious but there is no
another way for Ukraine, other than that envisaged by the Free trade area
agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. It is the true course for
Ukrainian economy to become a part of the huge integrated EU space,” he
highlighted.
The Agreement on
free trade area with the EU, according to the Head of Government, requires
actions “made by the real economy sector and the Government and Parliament who
are obliged to provide legislative platform to ensure the transition to the
European standards”.
The Head of
Government informed that throughout a month he would personally meet with
representatives of the enterprises engaged into export of goods to the EU and
the CIS markets, and other countries as well “to have a chance to determine with
regards to each separate enterprise where we can obtain additional market
opportunities”.
Moreover, according
to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, he and his ministers of an economic block of the
Government will have trips to the countries with promising markets “which are
ready to lobby interests of Ukrainian industrialists, Ukrainian companies,
goods and Ukraine as the country in whole”: “The entire civilized western world
acts this way”.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
emphasized that among the targets of the Government to be achieved in midterm
is the development of agro-industrial market: “For the three years we are
capable not just to significantly boost production
volumes but to join a line of principal countries that impact on the global
food market”.
The Prime Minister
informed he would present in the Parliament and for Ukraine’s citizens a
package of development of food sector “which will receive credit support of our
foreign partners”.
The second goal of
the Government of Ukraine, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, is energy
development containing in reducing of energy consumption and growth of energy
efficiency. He addressed profile ministers: “You are living the way you lived
before Russia cut off gas. You can’t live like that anymore. Tariffs have
grown, so consumption should be cut. We should offer incentives to install
metering devices, offer opportunities to insulate homes, provide the resource”.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
called these priorities realistic ones: “Old traditions when the Government
writes programs consisting of dozens hundreds pages ended commonplace – nothing
was executed. So I demand from the Government concrete and clear goals and
achievement of these goals”.
