September 11, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with President of the Republic of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves in the framework of his working visit to Ukraine.
Pavlo Klimkin expressed gratitude for the strong
support by Estonia of sovereignty and territorial integrity of
Ukraine and informed the Estonian side about the current situation in the East and South of Ukraine, in particular in the framework of compliance with
the agreements fixed in Minsk Protocol. In this context, the Ukrainian side emphasized
it is important for the Ukrainian government to receive support of their current efforts
from the partners, especially with account for the new package of EU
sanctions against Russia.
Peculiar attention
was paid to the steps of the Ukrainian Government directed to stabilizing the
economic situation and carrying out the reforms.
President T. H. Ilves confirmed the solidarity of Estonia to Ukraine and emphasized
readiness to provide further support for our country in the implementation of
reforms, as well as overcoming the consequences of the activities of terrorist
groups in eastern Ukraine.
The parties also discussed the priority issues of the bilateral agenda
in the political and trade-economic spheres.
Moreover, they considered the issues of preparation to the provisional application of the Association Agreement with the EU,
which has to commence
after ratification of the
Agreement by the Verkhovna Rada and the European Parliament.
