On Saturday, September 13, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk held talks with President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle, the interlocutors discussed implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. "The Government will immediately start to fulfil all the provisions of the Agreement just after it has been ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on September 16," - said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

"Russia was trying to disrupt the ratification, tried to make changes into the text of the Agreement, but it failed," said the Head of Government.

The Government shall promptly take appropriate decisions and adopt a national strategy for the implementation of the Agreement, he said.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk and José Manuel Barroso also considered the financial and energy cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. The Prime Minister appreciated the role of the President of the European Commission in creating conditions for reverse gas supplies from the EU to Ukraine. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the commitment of Ukraine to get a fair market price for Russian gas under general arrangements of the Government and the European Commission.

During the meeting the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the EU Commissioner Štefan Füle signed an Agreement on financing of the program "Support to civil society in Ukraine". It provides for the financing by the EU of projects for the development of the non-government sector worth Eur 10 million.
