NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy keeps on
implementing the project of extraction
of hydrocarbons on the territory of Alam EL Shawish East in
the Western Desert in Egypt. In
September this year, launching a first phase of the gas
pipeline and finishing the development of
fields allowed to start production
of natural gas in the amount of about 300,000
cubic meters per day. In September and
October a total amount of 19 million cubic meters of
natural gas has been extracted.
A total of 16 wildcats, 12 test wells and 12 exploitation wells have
been drilled, as well seven oil and gas fields have been explored and
extraction has been started at four of them.
In 2015, it
is planned to complete building the
technological infrastructure on the fields and
commissioning pipelines, so it will be possible to
connect other producing wells as
well as increase oil production to
950 tons (now approximately
740 tons) and 700,000
cubic meters of gas per day.
According to preliminary estimates, Naftogaz will produce up to 260,000
tons of oil on the concession territory
of Alam EL Shawish East in
2014, which is 11-12% of annual oil
extraction in Ukraine. In 2009, oil extraction was more
than 680,000 tons.
