In Berlin Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Vice-Chancellor, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany Sigmar Gabriel

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk on Wednesday, January 7, in the framework of the official visit to Berlin, met with the Vice-Chancellor, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany Sigmar Gabriel.

During the meeting a joint statement was signed between the Government of Ukraine and the Federal Government of Germany on granting the credit guarantees worth Eur 500 million. From the Ukrainian side the document was inked by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius, from Germany - by State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy Matthias Machnig.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that among the priorities was infrastructure rehabilitation in the Eastern regions of Ukraine, The funds will be directed to rebuild bridges, hospitals, roads, social infrastructure.

According to him, the loan is granted for a period of up to 20 years at a rather low interest rate, so it is a real step of assistance, which was announced by the Chancellor [of Germany Angela Merkel, - ed.] a few months ago, when she visited Ukraine, and now it has come to a practical implementation.

Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that within the two ministries there would be carried out all the procedures to solve who was to get the mentioned loans.

As was reported, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk with the Government delegation is on a two-day official visit to Berlin at the invitation of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The delegation includes the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalia Jaresko, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolev.

In Berlin, the Prime Minister of Ukraine is scheduled to meet with the Federal President of Germany Joachim Gauck, Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, representatives of German business and financial circles.

On 8 January, the Prime Minister will speak in the German Association of Foreign Policy.
