"If world sees that Ukraine fulfill its
financial obligations, then investors return to Ukraine, foreign exchange
reserves are accumulated, foreign exchange rate is stabilized, the banking
system is stabilized, jobs are created and the budget is filled, wages increase,
social standards improve", explained Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy
Yatsenyuk on Friday, January 9, at the session of the Government of Ukraine.
He stressed for Ukraine the program with the
International Monetary Fund was important. He reminded that the IMF mission had
arrived to Ukraine and started technical consultations, "It won’t be easy,
as usual. And it is natural. That is why all the ministries should actively
cooperate with our partners in the International Monetary Fund, as all the macro-financial
assistance is connected with our program with the International Monetary
Fund".
The Head of Government was quoted as saying that
the Cabinet of Ministers, "was following thoroughly the program with the
International Monetary Fund last year”, "It was a guarantee that the IMF
provided financial support to Ukraine. In case there are reforms that meet our
arrangements with the Western partners – there is financial aid. No reforms – none will just give money to anyone".
He stressed that all the funds received by
Ukraine in the framework of an international financial assistance "aren’t
directed to finance the state budget deficit, pensions and wages",
"All this goes first and foremost to fulfill our external obligations. It
is not us who took $ 40 billion in the past three years - they were taken by
Viktor Yanukovych and his former regime. And now it is extremely difficult for
us, but we manage to cope with it to repay debt obligations of Ukraine".
"It is a process that doesn’t envisage to
take someone's money, then to spend it on welfare and not to know who is the next to provide the funds. We must learn how to earn.
And with this purpose we need to establish a very solid and strong economic
base in the country. This is a task for the Ukrainian Government, we will deal
with", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
