"The budget of this year is a defense budget. If you dont feed your own army, you will feed someone elses army," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized during his communication with the cadets of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information on Thursday, 29 January.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed that the Government at its meeting on January 28 adopted a number of decisions on the allocation of additional funds for ATO participants: "For every day that you are directly involved in combat operations by the order of command you will get additionally UAH1,000 to the main salary, which is paid on a regular basis."

He also recalled that last year the Government of Ukraine adopted a decision on special support system for ATO participants, who are directly involved in the fighting. Over the last year a salary for the soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine increased from UAH1,700 to a minimum of UAH8,000: "The highest salary have commanders- UAH24,000."

In general, according to the PM, the Cabinet of Ministers has provided UAH90 billion for the Armys funding, "This is an unprecedented amount of money. We are partially assisted by our Western partners, including the so-called defence means. But we have not received lethal and offensive weapons, thus cope with on our own."

The Prime Minister addressed the cadets of the institute: "When you finish a higher education institution and directly join the Armed Forces of Ukraine, you will have a completely different allowance than those who have joined the Armed Forces a year or two ago."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also noted that till June of the last year there was no such a single system of clothing and ammunition provision, "The National Guard bought one things, all other troops bought another, the Security Service - the third ones."

He said that with coming of the new Defence Minister the system of provision had been changed. Volunteers are working at the Ministry of Defence that, according to the PM, allowed improving the system of the acquisition of real property and destroying the corruption component.

"The volunteers have done a great job in order to dress soldiers, suggest what it is better to buy. The function of the state was the following - to purchase hundreds of armored personnel carriers, tanks, weapons, which cost tens of millions of hryvnias. Now we have all that put together. Therefore, we can state that the situation has changed for the better. It is far from being perfect, because we are everything doing at full speed. But if you compare what was a year ago with what we have now- two different logistics systems, two different systems of provision. Today it has become much more efficient," Arseniy Yatsenyuk underlined.

Moreover, he noted that Western partners are providing assistance: "Weve received high-quality uniforms from Canada and Australia. 30 thousand of sets from Canada, 10 thousand - from Australia".
