SES chairman Serhii Bochkovsky and his first deputy Vasyl Stoietsky detained at Gov't session

On Wednesday, March 25, at a session of the Government of Ukraine there were detained Chairman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Serhii Bochkovsky and his first deputy Vasyl Stoietsky. They are accused of corruption in the process of tender procurement. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced the dismissal of the officials and the removal of the SES administrative staff along the entire vertical.

During the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov appealed to the Prime Minister for permission to hold an investigation action in the premises of the Cabinet of Ministers. Investigators came into the session hall and read out charges to Serhii Bochkovsky and Vasyl Stoietsky. After that, the officials were handcuffed and removed.

Arsen Avakov informed that Serhii Bochkovsky and Vasyl Stoietsky were suspected of organization of certain criminal schemes while purchasing fuel from private companies at inflated prices. When transferring funds through offshore companies, part of them were distributed between personal accounts of SES chairman and his first deputy.

The Prime Minister appealed to the Ministry of the Interior to conduct all proceedings in accordance with law, while to the prosecutors – to sue.

"The investigation must be public to an extent as is allowed under the criminal procedure law," stressed Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

He announced that he would appeal to American and European partners "with a request to help keeping track of all financial transactions by firms that were registered in the United States of America and bank accounts that are actually registered in Cyprus to ensure the entire criminal scheme revealed and criminals punished".

"When the country is at war, every copeck counts, they rob the people and the state. This is what will happen with everyone who breaks the law and who mocks the Ukrainian state," emphasized Arseniy Yatsenyuk. 

The Interior Minister of Ukraine appealed to Arseniy Yatsenyuk with a request to dismiss the SES Chairman and First Deputy Chairman.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that the Government supported the decision on their dismissal and the removal of "the entire leadership of the State Emergency Service vertical."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk asked Arsen Avakov "to conduct an investigation against the whole regional administrative staff, who were involved in the corruption scheme to embezzle public funds".
