A new National police
should demonstrate "another quality in terms of attitude towards a citizen
of Ukraine - respect, responsibility, support and protection, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this at a
visiting session at the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on
Saturday, April 4.
The Prime
Minister has noted that bills on reform of the Interior Ministry provide clear
rights and powers of a police officer, "But the law has another very
important thing – a police officer that meets the standards of integrity, responsibility
and professionalism should get appropriate respect from the people of Ukraine."
"Protection
of a human being in a form that serves the Ukrainian people - it is also the
philosophy of this bill, including
social, medical and financial protection," Arseniy
Yatsenyuk emphasized.
The PM has noted
that the proposed by the Government reform provides for enrolment to the ranks
of the National police only through competition: "The National police
should consist of the Ukrainian youth who are brought up in a different way, has
a different vision, speak foreign languages, are just not
of the same kidney."
The National police
should demonstrate "another quality in terms of attitude towards a citizen
of Ukraine - respect, responsibility, support and protection", "This
is what Ukraine needs today."
