On Thursday, July
2, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with EU Commissioner for
Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christ Stylianides.
During the
meeting they discussed humanitarian issues facing Ukraine. Arseniy Yatsenyuk
has expressed appreciation for the decision of the European Commission to
maintain the Ukrainian people by giving additional 15 million Euros for the
needs of IDPs.
He informs that Ukraine
has already registered 1,3 million displaced persons:
"This is a huge challenge for those who left their homes in some regions
of Donetsk and Luhansk, and it is difficult for the Government of Ukraine in
terms of providing social benefits for these citizens."
The Prime Minister of Ukraine has also noted
that a few days ago he met with representatives of organizations providing
humanitarian assistance - "in order to give the green light for
international organizations that deliver humanitarian aid through the line of
conflict."
Christ Stylianides has underlined that the EU aims at the long-term assistance to Ukraine. He
has also stressed the strong support of the territorial integrity and
independence of Ukraine from the European Union.
