"There are
different types of corruption, but corruption in the education system is one of
the most cynical. Because this is the destruction of the intellectual potential
of the country, this is the destruction of the child’s future - when he/she
gives a bribe for a diploma or certificate," Prime Minister of Ukraine
Arseniy Yatsenyuk during a meeting of the Ministry of Education and Science on
Friday, July 3 .
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
recalled that, according to the research of the Democratic initiatives fund,
30% of Ukrainian students "publicly declare they give bribes in the education
system": "The perception of corruption in the education system has
become a normal thing."
The PM appealed
to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii
Kvit: "Your task lies in cleaning the
educational system from the so-called higher education institutions that
collected money and printed diplomas, and then these students immediately registered
at the labor exchange."
"Stamping
out corruption in the system of both higher and secondary education is a key purpose,"
the Prime Minister emphasized.
