On Saturday, July
4, Kyiv hosts the oath ceremony
of new patrol police.
Prime Minister of
Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
addressed the new policemen and underlined that Ukrainians trust in them, "They
want you to protect their family and their children. They
want to be sure that the new beautiful Ukrainian police will have a great respect
from the citizens of Ukraine. Not
just respect to uniform, but to everyone of you."
"You have to
earn it. And
people are anticipating this from you," he said.
"We together
with the President, the Interior Minister will do our work. And
our job lies in providing wages, vehicles, equipment, social guarantees, while yours
is not just changing the name from militia to police, but to make every citizen
be proud of new Ukrainian police. And
we are sure that you will manage to do this," Arseniy
Yatsenyuk stressed.
The Prime
Minister has noted that 2,000 patrol policemen who will protect citizens in
Kyiv is just the beginning: "Then from city to city,
we will move forward, so that new Ukrainian police came to every town, every
village, so that everyone in the country felt: I am under the protection
of Ukrainian police."
Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed gratitude to Minister of Internal
Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov
and First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Eka Zguladze and Head of the education program of new policemen
Khatia Dekanoidze -
"incredibly talented, beautiful, intelligent Ukrainian women."
