The Government of
Ukraine continues to reform the Interior Ministry to bring its activities to
the European standards, thus new policemen started patrolling this week in the
capital of Ukraine. On
Saturday, July 4, in Kyiv hosted the oath ceremony of the staff of patrol
police.
Prime Minister of
Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk addressed the new policemen and stressed that 2,000
patrol policemen who will protect citizens in Kyiv is just the beginning: "Then from city to city,
we will move forward, so that new Ukrainian police came to every town, every
village, so that everyone in the country felt: I am under
the protection of Ukrainian police."
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
expressed appreciation for the reform implementation to the team of the
Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Recall that on July
2, the Verkhovna Rada approved the Government’s bills "On the national
police" and "On the internal affairs". The
reform of the MIA proposed by the Government aims to destroy the corrupt system
and urgently set transparent quality standards.
New patrol
policemen, joining the police only through open competition and diligent trainings,
started patrolling in Kyiv, but soon we will see them in other major cities,
including Odesa, Kharkiv and Lviv.
