Prime
Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
has stressed the need to urgently adopt a new energy strategy of Ukraine at a
meeting of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine on Tuesday, July
7.
"Unfortunately,
the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has not introduced an energy strategy yet,"
he said.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that one energy strategy was adopted in
2006 and was severely criticized": "Then, it was amended in 2013, but
it didn’t become better."
The Prime
Minister has informed that he once again submits to the Ministry a "New
energy strategy of Ukraine until 2020: safety, efficiency and competition."
This strategy has been developed by the Razumkov
Centre jointly with the World Bank, the IMF, EBRD, European energy community,
the Energy Charter and U.S. organizations– "that is, with all those who
know which strategy is important for Ukraine".
Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to Minister of Energy and Coal Industry
of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn
to work out this strategy, "by adding what he believes important in order
to urgently approve the strategy by a decision of the Government of Ukraine."
