It is necessary
to answer publicly about the Energoatom’s activity,
"Hire auditors, private investigation companies. I call for transparency
in the energy sector. If
there is corruption, if there are facts proven by independent auditors, it is a
direct path to justice," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy
Yatsenyuk stressed at a board meeting of the Ministry
of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, on Tuesday, July 7.
He has pointed
out that he is cognizant that the situation with Energoatom
shows that there is the struggle "for flows of capital." "Moreover,
I can see Russian interference into the struggle for Energoatom,
he noted, recalling about approval of the decision to diversify the acquisition
of nuclear fuel and signing of the contract by Westinghouse on significant
expansion of cooperation.
"I deem that
the company Energoatom has to be the pillar of energy
security. And
that is why we have already being talked about the need to complete power units,"
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
emphasized.
The Prime
Minister expressed surprise about the fact that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Ukraine "for half a month has being impeded the decision of the
Government on denunciation of the agreement with Russia, under which Russia wanted
to actually capture some power units of Ukraine by using monopoly means."
He appealed to Energoatom’s President Yurii Nedashkovskyi to immediately submit this issue to the
Government.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that the company Energoatom
has to become the basis of energy security: "This is one of the most
expensive assets of Ukrainian energy system. Thus,
I call for transparency, implementation of the contract with Westinghouse,
diversification of energy supplies and completion of power units. "
