Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed to hasten preparation of utility sector for winter

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk urged Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadii Zubko to intensify control over responsibility of local authorities in the process of preparation of housing and communal services sector for winter. The Head of Government announced at the meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities on Thursday, July 23.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed that the day before he had summoned a meeting of the energy crisis staff. He noted that he is "very dissatisfied with the management in the energy sector".

He noted that by the beginning of the heating season we should have in storages about 19 billion cubic metres of gas: "We should better take precautions and accumulate more resource to make it easier to endure the coming autumn-winter period," he said, adding that it was also necessary to gather in warehouses at least 3.5 million tons of coal.

"Essential in the energy issue now is to plan how to pass the autumn-winter period and how in general to build a new policy of energy independence," he said.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk commissioned Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadii Zubko to hold urgent conference calls and to set up a Commission to prepare housing and communal services sector for winter: "To summon all the staff: regional and district administrations, city mayors, all utility companies and check the state of implementation of the plan. In August we should know we are ready for the winter season”.
