Prime Minister: Government to allocate UAH 50 million to trigger a citizen card system

In the framework of the implementation of the visa regime liberalization programme with the EU, the Government has decided on the allocation of UAH 50 million to the State Migration Service to launch a citizen card system. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, July 29.

He recalled that the citizen card would function in parallel with the internal passport: "But it is among the key conditions that the document which confirms identity in Ukraine could meet the EU standards".

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also stressed that weekly the Government holds meetings for the implementation of technical points of visa liberalization plan with the European Union: "I demand specific action from all public authorities to ensure distinct implementation of all the criteria. Unfortunately, the number of criteria as compared to last year’s has increased severalfold. The previous list and the one we have today differ a lot. But we should fulfil our technical work".
