On Friday, August 7, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy
Yatsenyuk held a meeting to tackle the process of implementation of the Action
Plan on EU visa regime liberalization of Ukraine.
The Prime Minister heard the reports of the Gov’t members, namely of Minister for Foreign Affairs of
Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko, Minister
of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov on the state of implementation of objectives determined
in cooperation with the European partners.
First of all, the discussion concerned the simplifying of
provision of services to Ukrainian citizens. The task is to provide improved
opportunities for the people: both while travelling to the EU states and in the
issues of protecting the rights of citizens and their rights in another
country, the participants of the meeting accentuated.
Among the discussed issues were, in particular, document
security, integrated border management, combating organized crime and
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed the need to accelerate the work along
relevant directions. The Prime Minister gave clear instructions on the determined
timeframes for the top priority lines to be fulfilled by the executive branch
and also in cooperation with the Parliament.
During the event it was noted that according to the fifth
report of the European Commission, Ukraine had significantly improved its
performance in the process of implementation of the Visa Liberalization Action
Plan with the EU.
The participants also considered the process of preparing
for the arrival to Ukraine of the next mission of the European partners due in
September of this year.
