Prime Minister of
Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
stressed the importance of holding fair and transparent local elections -
"as
we honestly and transparently held elections of the President of Ukraine and
elections to Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine," underlined
the Head of Government in "Ten Minutes" on Sunday, 18 October.
An honest and
transparent election is "when no one takes money for his/her vote and
sells the country's future for a few hundred hryvnias."
"Everyone is
chattering about combating corruption. So let's combat it, and let everyone
starts with himself. Do not sell your vote to corrupt politicians - and thus
make a contribution to fighting political corruption in the country," the
Prime Minister emphasised.
He has also
reminded that the new law on local election provides recalling of a local
councilor who cannot cope with his/her responsibilities: "It's a proper
precaution against those who join the local authorities with the purpose of
improving his/her own life not yours."
"This local
election is another step towards changes in the country. Together we are
changing the country," said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
