Ukraine signs an agreement with Turkey on a US$ 50 mn loan

There took place negotiations between Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu, who is staying in Ukraine with a visit at an invitation of the Head of Ukrainian Government. The talks of two governmental delegations were preceded by a meeting of the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Turkey in a bilateral format.

In the framework of the visit of the Turkish delegation a Loan agreement was inked between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey envisaging extending a US$ 50 mn loan to Ukraine to fill general fund of the State Budget with the maturity period of 5 years and a 2.5% annual interest rate.

The document was signed by Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko and a representative of the Undersecretariat of Treasury of the Turkish Republic.

Apart from that, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey inked an Agreement on the Delivery of Mobile Field Hospital to Ukraine. The document was inked by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Turkey Serhii Korsunsky and Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey.

At the beginning of the meeting Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed gratitude to the Turkish people for the support for the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, "for the support for our fight against Russian aggression and support for our position that Crimea is Ukraine, as well as Donetsk and Luhansk".

"Each of our countries protects its borders and its citizens, its territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty", emphasized the Head of the Ukrainian Government.

The agenda of talks, he continued, is to maintain an economic dialogue between Ukraine and Turkey and to work on an issue of concluding an agreement on free trade area: "We appreciate the presence of investors from Turkey in the Ukrainian economy, thus an economic dialogue and economic programs between Ukraine and Turkey should be developing."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that the delegation from Turkey which had arrived to Ukraine is one of the largest in history of bilateral relations between the two countries: "All our Ministers are also prepared to have a specific dialogue in each sector starting with infrastructure and ending with energy and defence domains."
