Volodymyr Groysman and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini agreed on bilateral cooperation in security domain

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini in Brussels on Wednesday.

The parties discussed the agenda of relations between Ukraine and the EU, in particular the situation with introduction of a visa-free regime for the citizens of Ukraine, ratification of the Association Agreement, as well as getting macro-financial assistance. Federica Mogherini assured of the readiness in the near future to resolve the aforesaid issues.

The Prime Minister informed the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on the measures taken by the Government in the socio-economic sphere, the public service reform, the fight against corruption.

"I appreciate your efforts and the work done in the first 100 days of your Government", said Federica Mogherini.

The focus of the negotiations was security issues, primarily, the settlement of the situation in east of Ukraine and implementation of Minsk deals. Volodymyr Groysman emphasized that "the full implementation by Moscow of the security provisions is a key prerequisite enabling to achieve overall progress in resolving the situation in Donbas".

Volodymyr Groysman expressed gratitude to the EU for a decision to prolong economic sanctions against Russia for a longer period. It was also emphasized that worsening of the situation in the occupied Crimea requires reinforcement of punitive measures on the Russian Federation and involvement of the EU into development of a strategy for demilitarization and de-occupation of Crimea.

The parties also agreed to update the cooperation in the framework of an Administrative Agreement between Ukraine and the EDA, signed back in December 2015.

Moreover, the sides made arrangements to summon at the end of 2016 a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council co-chaired by Volodymyr Groysman and Federica Mogherini.
