A decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to assume control over Ukrainian NJSC Naftogaz Ukraine is aimed to accelerate the process of unbundling and reforming the management system. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on opening a Government’s meeting on Thursday.

"This issue once again drew [attention] to the fact that the system of Naftogaz should be retrofitted, that we should create full, public, transparent companies, that we must improve the system of management, corporatisation of these enterprises. So, the process of controlling by the Cabinet of Ministers will speed up the procedure of unbundling functions, respectively, gas transmission and storage, as well as gas production in order to build an efficient system", said Volodymyr Groysman.

He promised that at its session on Thursday the Government would adopt a decision to transfer the management functions of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The Prime Minister reminded that the previous week the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade within the scope of responsibilities had taken a technical decision to control Ukrtransgas and Naftogaz.

Together with the international partners, in particular the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, there has been established a joint working group to develop a plan to increase efficiency of management of the Naftogaz company, said the Head of Government.
