The Government
is engaged in elaboration of a mechanism to monetize economy from subsidies for
housing and communal services during the heating season, which will stimulate
energy saving in households. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced
during a teleconference dedicated to the autumn-winter heating period of
2016-2017 on Thursday.
"We
want to create a tool to ensure economized funds by households during the heating
season be turned into cash and paid to the people to encourage economy,"
he said.
The decision
will be taken after consultations, in particular with local authorities, and brought
to the attention of Ukrainian citizens.
"The
idea is absolutely correct: when you save, you must get benefits and incentives",
said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Prime
Minister also noted that artificially inflated norms on use of gas had become a
reason for recalculations. According to him, last year there were spread rumours that the larger the consumption is, the greater the
subsidy amount becomes. The Prime Minister called it a myth.
In this regard,
the Prime Minister urged local authorities to inform the population of their
areas about the need to conserve energy resources.
"The
more heat we save, the greater the opportunity is that we may pay certain
compensation to each family that economizes. Presently, it is necessary to
economize at all stages of production, transportation and consumption of
thermal resources," he said.
