The Government has fixed amounts of financial support to
victims of the Chernobyl accident to compensate for the cost of vouchers for
sanatoria and rehabilitation institutions. It is envisaged by Decree of the
Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from December 28, 2016 No. 1029.
In particular, the amount of such assistance is as follows:
for persons category 1 (victims who
have a disability related to the consequences of the Chernobyl accident and liquidators
fall within this category) – UAH 5 250;
for persons category 1, having nervous
system diseases (consequences of traumas and diseases of spine and spinal cord)
– UAH 17 390;
for children who have disabilities as
a result of the Chernobyl disaster – UAH 10 840.
Citizens will choose a health resort institution to which annual
financial assitnce will be transferred. However, if
the described sums appear not enough to compensate for the cost of the voucher
to undergo treatment in such an institution, victims can pay the difference
"For the first time there has been applied this
approach when person can freely choose a resort or vacation spot. At that, cash
assistance is envisaged for such treatment," said Prime Minister of
Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, adding it is a novelty as well.
It is worth mentioning here that prior to the adoption of
the resolution victims of the Chernobyl accident of these categories would
undergo a course of treatment at sanatoria or holiday facilities only in determined
by tenders places. In addition, no monetary assistance
to the aforesaid categories was provided.
