Prime Minister visited Regional Pedagogical Lyceum for gifted rural youth and Higher Vocational School of Consumer Services in Chernihiv

http://www.kmu.gov.ua/img/1x1.gifIn the framework of the working visit to Chernihiv region Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman paid a visit to the Chernihiv Regional Pedagogical Lyceum for gifted rural youth.

The Head of Government saw over the training facilities of the educational institution, namely a computer class equipped in the framework of the Agreement between the Government of China and the Government of Ukraine.

Moreover, Volodymyr Groysman visited the Chernihiv Higher Vocational School of Consumer Services. He checked over classrooms for obtaining hairdressing, sewing, tailors, cutters skills and information technologies class.

The Prime Minister spoke with the teaching staff and students of the educational institutions.

Background

Chernihiv Regional Pedagogical Lyceum for gifted youth was established in 1993 in the form of Lyceum classes on the basis of Chernihiv Taras Shevchenko Pedagogical Institute.

The Lyceum is an educational institution of the 3 level of accreditation offering specialized training and pre-professional training, and operates as a boarding school.

One can choose the following specializations: humanitarian (Philology and History and Law), biology and chemistry, physics and mathematics.

In 2016-2017 academic year, the number of students enrolled in the institution is 179 from 19 districts of the region and cities of Chernihiv, Slavutych.

Over last three years 108 Lyceum students have become the winners of regional competitions and regional stages of Research Paper Defense Competition of MAcS of Ukraine Student-members, and 11 students - winners of final stages of National Olympiads.

Distant science school operates on the basis of the Lyceum.

There are 6 subject classrooms: Ukrainian language and literature, mathematics, English, chemistry, physics, Informatics and Information and communication technology, sports and reading halls. All the classrooms of the Lyceum are equipped with use of interactive technologies.

In the framework of educational subventions from the state budget in 2016, there was purchased equipment for the English language laboratory. Under the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the People's Republic of China the educational institution received 15 advanced computers.

December 5, 2014 there entered into force the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the delivery to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine computers for educational institutions of Ukraine as a humanitarian assistance totaling 23.5 thousand computers worth 90 million yuan.

In December 2016 all the computers in accordance with the approved Ministry of Education and Science distribution plan were transferred and delivered to Ukrainian schools through local education departments.

In general, 2514 educational institutions in all regions of Ukraine and Kyiv city got modern computers from China.

Public vocational training institution "Chernihiv Higher Vocational School of Consumer Services" was established as a result of the merger and further reorganization in 2000 of vocational schools No. 3 and No. 9.

Chernihiv Higher Vocational School of Consumer Services is an educational institution of the 3 level of accreditation, which provides professional education for the following educational and qualification levels: qualified worker, junior specialist, provides retraining and raising of qualification level of workers in accordance with contracts concluded with legal entities and individuals.

Training is carried out pursuant to national and/or regional order on the basis of contracts concluded with enterprises – potential employers of the region. The demand makes up to 250 people annually.

In the current academic year 515 students are trained in it.
