The most important sessions events for Ukraine will be the debates on the Monitoring Committee report Functioning of democratic institutions in Ukraine and the adoption of the respective resolution, as well as holding by the Parliamentary Delegation members of side-events on the consequences of Russian aggression against our state

The Permanent Delegation of the Vekhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament) headed by MP Volodymyr Ariev takes part in the session.

The session started its work with meetings of the political groups, forming their positions on Assemblys agenda items.

The plenary is about to start at 11:00. Its work will be accomplished on Friday, 27 January. Through this week there will be held exchanges of views with Nicos Anastasiades, President of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers, the Cypriot Foreign Minister, Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania, Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, and Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

Delegates will debate on attacks against journalists and media freedom in Europe, the challenges and accountability of online media and journalism and the need to end cyberdiscrimination and online hate speech. PACE will discuss situation in Syria, Lebanon, as well as other challenges for regional stability and European security.
