Our goal for 2017 is to modernize the customs service and to increase revenues, says Volodymyr Groysman

Among the Government's priorities for 2017 is retrofitting the customs service that will allow the country to increase revenues from customs duties due to the elimination of corruption schemes. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said during a seminar dedicated to considering the development of the investment and export potential of regions on Monday.

“Our goal is to modernize the customs service in 2017, to grow these revenues. These funds belong to the Ukrainian people”, said the Head of Government.

The Prime Minister noted that the Government had succeeded in liquidation of a number of corruption schemes at the customs. Since the beginning of the customs service reform in May of 2016, already in August, there was achieved a steady growth of proceeding to the State Budget.

December saw a 20% overfulfillment of planned incomes from payment of customs duties. "It makes up UAH 4 billion that used to be the income from corruption schemes and distributed among the pockets [of corrupt officials – ed.]. Nowadays these funds are serving the country," he said.

Volodymyr Groysman added that measures to prevent grey imports also contribute to protection of domestic producers.
