In the 4th quarter of 2016 Ukraine's economy demonstrated a
growing trend – its GDP increased by 4.7%. This was announced by Prime Minister
of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, when presenting the Report on the progress and
results of implementation of the Programme of the Government of Ukraine for
2016, during a CMU session on Tuesday.
"In the 4th quarter of 2016, GDP increased by 4.7%.
This means that the Ukrainian economy started to recover and in the future we
will have opportunities, among others to raise social standards", said Volodymyr
Groysman.
In 2016, the Goverment had managed
to provide a growing trend in the economy from the second half-year, which made
up 2.2% against the showings of the previous year.
"Our efforts will be directed to support economic
growth, to accelerate it and, most importantly, to ensure its sustainability.
We want it not to be a one-time increase – either of the 4 quarter of 2017, but
to provide that 2018 and 2019 as well be the years of economic growth. Economic
upswing enables us to fill the State budget and to redirect these resources to
improve the quality of people’s lives", stressed the Head of Government.
