Volodymyr Groysman commissions to elaborate government recommendations to ensure an access for persons with disabilities to objects of social and transport infrastructure

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman gave instructions to Government Commissioner on the rights of persons with disabilities Raisa Panasyuk to develop recommendations by the Government to local authorities to ensure a barrier-free access for people with disabilities to social, infrastructure and housing facilities.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine gave a relevant commission while considering the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine” On amendments to the Procedure of preparation, evaluation and selection of investment programs and regional development projects that can be implemented at the expense of the State Fund of Regional Development" at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Wednesday.

 “We need to adopt these recommendations with specified measures stipulated in the Government's decision and to direct it to every city for local authorities to have a blueprint of programs or to improve existing ones, thereby to make a real action plan envisages possible steps aimed to make a serious program of accessibility. I think that will be a right step to stick to in the procurement of transport, in the modernization of pre-school, school education as well as in ensuring of inclusiveness," said the Prime Minister.

The Government will consider the recommendations related to ensuring of unhindered access in the coming weeks.

Volodymyr Groysman is deeply convinced that a barrier-free issue is of utmost importance for Ukraine and it should be an essential priority in the work of central and local authorities.

“We should implement a program of accessibility and barrier-free in all cities: public transport, entrances, where people live with disabilities, borders, access to toilets, pharmacies, hospitals, schools, public places. The question is extremely important," urged the Prime Minister.

The Head of Government emphasized that as a result of the decentralization process local communities possess enough financial resources to ensure unhindered access for people with disabilities.
