The Government is considering a possibility to implement
projects to generate solar energy in the zone of alienation and zone of
unconditional (mandatory) resettlement, thereby contributing to leveraging new
investment and strengthening energy security of the country. This was the topic
for discussion during the meeting on May 22, under the chairmanship of Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman. The event was attended by heads of line
ministries, State Agency of Ukraine on the Exclusion Zone Management, Ukrenerho, UkraineInvest (Ukraine Investment Promotion Office).
"We believe that it is crucial to create perfectly
competitive conditions to ensure those companies having a desire to take part
in these large-scale projects (for solar power generation), first, do this
openly, publicly, using clear procedures and mechanisms for us to receive the
best investments, to minimize any interference and do everything very
competitively and transparently", said the Head of Government.
of the meeting discussed approaches and challenges in the process of preparation
for the implementation of projects for solar power generation and attracting
energy is what we need, we must reduce our dependence
on traditional sources. We have a possibility to install powerful equipment and
produce electricity. We understand how to create infrastructure to generate it
and distribute throughout the country”, stressed Volodymyr Groysman. “It implies
investment and energy security of our country."
In turn, Minister
of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak said: "Our idea of turning the exclusion zone
into a development zone and a key project in the renewable energy sector has
long ceased to be a dream and become the working agenda for the Government of
Ukraine. It is very important that Volodymyr Groysman encouraged to the process
all stakeholders for the most effective and speedy implementation of the launch
of a solar power station in the exclusion zone".
