Ukraine and Georgia are united in protecting the territorial integrity of the two States, condemning any manifestation of aggression and the illegal annexation of territories, in particular of Crimea. Such a stance was voiced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili. The meeting took place in Tbilisi within the framework of the official visit of Volodymyr Groysman to Georgia.

"I would like to express gratitude to the leadership of Georgia for the steadfast position and support for Ukraine. We are encouraged to note the intensification of a political dialogue between our States," emphasized Volodymyr Groysman, “I want to stress that Ukraine demonstrates unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia as well. Our interests rest on stability within Your country and preservation of the pro-European course".

In turn, the President of Georgia emphasized: "We continue our dialogue and deepen the relations between the countries."

The parties stressed that the current year – an anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Tbilisi – had become a landmark year enabling the two countries to speeding up constructive and effective negotiations, while relations between the States were strategic along every direction of mutual partnership.

In this context the Head of Ukrainian Government placed a special emphasis on the interaction between the two countries in resolving the situation in Donbas, in particular the strengthening of the OSCE mission in the region and the advancing the diplomatic decisions on the introduction of a peacekeeping mission in Donbas under the United Nations and intergovernmental associations auspices, first of all GUAM, where Georgia presides.

Equally important are issues pertaining to the cooperation in the framework of rapprochement with NATO and the European Union, as well as the development of bilateral trade relations. According to the Prime Minister, the two states possess necessary resources in order to double the annual trade turnover figure and bring it to 1 billion dollars.

Ukraine and Georgia are maintaining the relations of strategic partnership. The trade turnover between the two countries in 2016 amounted to the tune of $ 456 million, but this figure could be doubled, up to $1 billion. Ukraine praises the Georgian government's assistance in involving Ukrainian companies in the implementation of infrastructure projects in Georgia and pledges readiness to deepen cooperation in the area of developing the transit potential of the two states, especially as part of the New Silk Road project.
