Implementation of
the plan for renovation and modernization of the infrastructure of Ukraine,
primarily in terms operation of the state company Ukrzaliznytsia,
will allow the economy to add at least 1% to growth performance in 2018. This
was stated by Prime Minister of
Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during the Government sitting.
"Infrastructure
issues are of paramount importance for the development of economy. We can get plus 1% to GDP
growth. The
infrastructure component should be geared up to support exports, to convey
goods. This
will affect the development of commodity output," urged Volodymyr Groysman, "The issue of
Ukrzaliznytsia comes to the fore. We need a railway network of high
quality. This
proves vital for the metallurgical complex, for the agrarian industry. The
objective is as follows: to hit the monthly target for putting in exploitation
of new carriages, starting January, 2018, to announce tenders. I
emphasize don’t waste time to reveal problem issues and solve them. The
dynamics of GDP growth for 2018 depends on Ukrzaliznytsia."
Meanwhile, the Head of Government stressed a practice
of disruption of bidding must not be repeated, including through the
application of antimonopoly procedures. "It is unacceptable. Our
objective is to resolve this grave situation," added Volodymyr
Groysman.
Volodymyr Groysman also stressed that one of the most
substantial development projects for Ukrzaliznytsia
will be the project of joint work with industrial conglomerate General
Electric, in what the parties reached the stage of signing long-term contracts.
