Effective action in fighting corruption and high-quality work of
anti-corruption bodies and anti-corruption court will be a guarantee of not just
eliminating violations of law, but will allow filling the budget with funds
that were previously distributed by corrupt officials to line their pockets. Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman
stressed during the Government sitting.
"We will root out corruption, we will fill the budget. An example is the customs office. Last year we accumulated
a resource worth UAH 70 billion in the budget. I want to
say that a large share of the money was distributed (among officials – ed.). Now,
when we start to systematically change the situation, funds remain in the
budget", said Volodymyr Groysman,
"Therefore, we can modernize the country, raise social standards."
During
the session,
members of the Cabinet of Ministers heard a regular -
the fifth - report
of the Together
Against Corruption public initiative that reveals
corruption risks in the work of central authorities. The most alarming cases
were the trade in
counterfeit sick-lists,
driving licenses, as well as the lack of a truly working risk assessment system
in road construction sector. As the authors of the report
pointed out,
the state will allot
up to UAH 50
billion this year on road construction, and control over the use of funds and
the quality of work performed is a rather important issue.
The
Head of Government commended the results of the study and promised overall
support to the initiative and their further activity.
