"I call on the
Parliament together with the Government and the President to carry further the whole
political responsibility for proper, complex, but effective reforms in the
country," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed at a
meeting of the MES on Friday, 3 July.
reminded the yesterday’s adopted by the Parliament law on the restructuring of
foreign currency loans, "I respect the Ukrainian Parliament, because it
has been elected by the will of the people of Ukraine. But I am convinced that
the Ukrainian Parliament must respect the country."
"There are a
lot of "interesting" ideas. You can equate the hryvnia
to the dollar. You can equal a kilogram of fat to a kilogram of gold. You can
also perform a couple of interesting reforms. For example, immediately after
kindergarten the children can be retired. It will be quite popular. Or you can exempt
everyone from taxes, and from going to work and make the state support everyone.
There will be applause before the local elections – frankly, I don’t know who will
applaud to whom," he said.
He cited as an
example the experience of Georgia - "how the Parliament, Government and
President operated there in carrying out reforms": "Of course, there
were discussions. But everything submitted by the Government was voted
Ukraine, he said, only 30% of government bills have been voted, "70%
remained somewhere in the offices of the Parliament, while all populist things,
in particular before municipal elections, are accepted with enthusiasm."
"I hope that
we will hold a serious conversation within the coalition with the President,
with all members of the Government, with the whole pro-European coalition. And we
will carry out reforms together, realizing that this is the political
responsibility for the fate of the country, but not the political ratings of any
party," Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.
