Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting with Chairman of the Committee
of the European Parliament on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok on Wednesday.
At the
beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister told his interlocutor about the
recent approval by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the state budget for 2017
and budget-forming laws.
In this
context, Volodymyr Groysman informed Elmar Brok about the Government's plans of reforms for next year.
In particular, according to him, among the reforms to be prolonged are that of
civil service, justice, local governance and decentralization of power, energy sector.
The Government
is taking necessary measures to improve the effectiveness of an anti-corruption
policy.
Among the
priorities for the next year are also privatization and change of corporate
governance in state-owned companies, sectoral reforms
in education and healthcare.
The Government
is optimistic about the prospects in the upcoming year and forecasts a 3% economic
growth in Ukraine in 2017, said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Cabinet
of Ministers will complete the formation of a medium-term strategy for 2017-2020
until the end of year.
Volodymyr
Groysman also informed Elmar Brok
about the nationalization of the largest Ukraine’s Bank PrivatBank.
The
Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament welcomed
the adoption of the state budget and the actions of Government in carrying out
reforms. According to him, this indicates the stabilization of the situation in
the country.
"The
steps to reform the judiciary, fight against corruption, to introduce an e-asset
declaration, - all these show that the country is making good progress. In
addition, we see expert estimates regarding the economic situation in the
country - we see that performance has improved", said Elmar
Brok.
The Prime
Minister thanked the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Elmar Brok and the European Union
for its consistent and continued support of Ukraine on the path of
transformation.
