On Monday, September
7, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk held a meeting with Director
General of the European Organisation for the Safety
of Air Navigation, Eurocontrol Frank Brenner.
The Prime
Minister of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the technical assistance from Eurocontrol and support in the implementation of a Single
European Sky initiative. The participants of the meeting discussed a
possibility to increase air traffic over Ukraine and the western part of the
Black Sea, as significant part of it had been lost through the temporary
occupation by Russia of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The
interlocutors acknowledged that the document prepared jointly by Ukraine and Eurocontrol confirms the effectiveness of our cooperation
in the assessment of safety of flights in the aforesaid airspace.
During the
meeting the parties also considered the enhancement of cooperation between Ukraerorukh State
Enterprise for Ukrainian Air Traffic
Management and Eurocontrol. In particular, an
emphasis was made on Ukraerorukh participation in
providing centralised Eurocontrol’s
services by the entire European community within the framework of the creation
and development of a single European system for air traffic management.
