Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced
during A Question Time for the Government today, 9 September, that
pharmaceuticals would further be procured through transparent schemes from
international organizations, as such practice had provided an opportunity to
unlock the purchase of medicines and to save 10 to 90% of public funds.
"By now the problem with the supply of drugs was
unlocked, including vaccines. But this is not enough, as there was the delay.
We unblocked the supply last year. Now we should carry out the procurement for
2016”, said Volodymyr Groysman, adding that "we must now catch up with
time" and the Ministry of Health is engaged in solving this issue.
The Prime Minister announced that in fact the Ministry of
Health was trying to balance the need, so we would continue to purchase
medicines via transparent schemes with participation of international
"We believe that it is an absolutely correct move,
although many oppose that. When it comes to purchasing drugs from international
organizations, we economize from 10 to 90 percent. They used to line their
pockets from this, but that will never happen again. As long as our Cabinet
holds the office and the incumbent Parliament, I think, supports us, we won't
abandon the idea of procurement through international organizations",
emphasized Volodymyr Groysman.
