On 14 February outgoing Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Yevgen Perebyinis paid a farewell
visit to the Saeima, having met with its Speaker Ināra Mūrniece.
The Latvian Speaker thanked the Ambassador for his
contribution to the development of Latvian – Ukrainian relations, having
underscored the dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue at
intergovernmental, interparliamentary level and
people-to-people contacts. She reassured the Ambassador of Latvia’s ongoing
necessary support and assistance in fighting against the Russian aggression.
She promised Ukraine could further rely on Latvia in issues of treatment of
Ukrainian servicemen and rehabilitation of children, affected by military
actions inspired by Russia in the East of Ukraine. The Speaker confirmed
Latvia’s resolute position on preserving the sanctions against Russia until it
completely abides the Minsk agreements and de-occupies Crimea.
In his turn, the Ambassador thanked the members of the
Latvian parliament and Speaker Ināra Mūrniece personally for her invaluable contribution to
the development of humanitarian projects in Ukraine and clear support of
territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, solidarity in standing
against the Russian aggression.
