Pavlo Rozenko met with the Global Fund team

Today, 19 September, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko met with a delegation of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The parties focused on the results of the current implementation of the Global Fund’s grant in Ukraine and the provision of a new grant for 2018 - 2020 as well as the conditions of co-financing by the Government.

Participating in the event were Dumitru Laticevschi, Regional Manager of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Team, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, George Sakvarelidze, Senior Portfolio Manager of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Team of the Global Fund.

At the beginning of the meeting the Vice Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Global Fund for the financial support and technical assitance that facilitated achievement of certain level of stabilization of the situation with HIV-AIDS duirng several years.

Pavlo Rosenko reminded that under his supervision the work of the National Council on Counteracting TB and HIV/AIDS in Ukraine has been resumed and it has been effective for a year and at the same time coordinates the implementation of the Global Fund programs.

The Vice Prime Minister noted in order to ensure further progress in this area, Ukraine had prepared and in May of 2017 submitted to the Global Fund a new request for financing of the project "Accelerating Ukraine's progress in providing a sustainable response in the healthcare sector in countering tuberculosis and HIV -infection" for 2018-2020, and it is expected in October this year the Global Fund will give a positive decision. "We have a rather constructive communication and information exchange with the Global Fund. All comments and suggestions of the Global Fund are taken into consideration, and I hope that this request will be approved by the Global Fund in October," said Pavlo Rozenko.

Moreover, he informed that Ukraine is currently preparing an additional request to the Global Fund to receive additional funding in the framework of catalytic investments for a total of $ 15.2 million. "We are planning that on October 5, 2017, at a meeting of the National Council, the request will be approved and submitted to the Global Fund," added the Vice Prime Minister.
