At the expense of state support for
regional development, in particular of the State Regional Development Fund and
the resource planned for subvention for consolidated communities, in 2017 the
regions have launched implementation of 2,800 infrastructure projects, thus making it possible to assert
the new quality of education,
infrastructure, medical and social provision in communities and rural areas is
being introduced. Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional
Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko stressed on air of
"Regional policy should be discussed in
terms of opportunities. In
rural areas, about 31% of Ukrainian citizens reside, hence it is crucial to
create conditions to maintain and develop such human potential. Rural
areas provide the largest share of gross domestic product, which is then converted
into currency reserves of the country", said Hennadii
He informed that in 2018 Government
support for the development of regions would amount to UAH 18.5 billion,
whereas in 2014 it had amounted only UAH 500 million.
"It is viewed possible to encourage
people not to leave countryside, to engage in economic processes through the
revival of infrastructure. The
state motivates rural areas by investing in regional growth through the SRDF,
subventions for CC, for socio-economic development and other programs. Meanwhile,
the communities should focus mostly on accumulating resource for local
budgets that now have reached UAH 173.5 billion in total. These
are the opportunities for the implementation of strategies for the
development of territories and the introduction of projects", emphasized
Hennadii Zubko, adding the
quality of services provision is of great significance.
It should be noted that in 2017 about
800 investment regional development projects within the framework of the
State Regional Development Fund have been realized to the tune of UAH 3.5 billion.
As part of the subvention for the development of CC infrastructure, over 2,000
projects to the tune of almost UAH 1.5 billion have been launched.
