The
Ukrainian economy sectors can boast of a multiplicity of development potential,
hence its effective disclosure through financing of science and start-ups, will
allow Ukraine to achieve technological breakthrough and substantial economic
growth. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman during a meeting with participants of the
Innovation Ecosystem Sikorsky Challenge at the National Technical University of
Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky KPI".
"We need
to improve the system of financing science. I expect for concrete proposals
from scientists what requires change so that to avoid underfunding of this
sector", said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Head of
Government initiated to convene the Council for Science and Technology aimed to
tackle the transition of Ukrainian science from a model of maintenance to that
of investment for development.
"We
engage in the development of the economy. It is impossible without science and
innovation. Capacity of the sector is monumental. I express readiness to adopt
decisions to ensure competition and equal opportunities to get state support. I have the political will for that", the Prime Minister
assured.
He toured
the projects represented in the Innovation Ecosystem Sikorsky Challenge under
the Igor Sikorsky KPI and based on a progressive model in which education,
science and business are interwoven.
The
researchers presented cutting edge Ukrainian solutions in space, healthcare, defense, energy efficiency, education sectors. Among them:
new-generation unmanned aerial vehicles, space nano-and
micro-satellites, potable water purification systems, electrothermal
surgical instruments, small arms.
It should
be noted that among the participants of the Innovation Ecosystem Sikorsky
Challenge are high-tech companies from the USA, Europe and Ukraine, venture and
investment funds, and large Ukrainian innovation and production companies.
