On Tuesday,
August 5, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk held a meeting with the
Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Toshimitsu
Motegi.
In the meeting were also present Commissioner
of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan Takayuki Ueda,
Director-General of Trade Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Hideo Suzuki, Vice
Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Committee for cooperation with Ukraine
of Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), Director, Vice Chairman of the Board
of Toshiba Corporation Norio Sasaki, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador
of Japan to Ukraine Toichi Sakata.
The PM emphasized the Cabinet of Ministers of
Ukraine evaluates a decision of the Government of Japan to intensify sanctions against
the Russian Federation.
The Head of Government
stressed the situation with Russia poses not only a threat to Ukraine but to
the entire world as well. Arseniy Yatsenyuk added the Government of Ukraine highly
estimates the efforts of Japan, the G7 states, the UN participating countries
and the United States of America directed to support and ensuring peace and
stability in the world.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine
welcomed a visit of the large delegation of business circles of Japan who
accompany the Minister of Economy,
Trade and Industry of Japan.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
confirmed striving to develop relations between Ukraine and Japan in economy
and trade with attracting high technologies of Japan. Top priorities in this direction
are energy efficiency projects.
Toshimitsu Motegi emphasized leaders
of G7 had adopted a decision to take additional well-coordinated measures
against Russia in order to demonstrate to the Russian top officials they had to
cease supporting rebels and join efforts to stabilize the situation.
The
Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan expressed interest in
deepening cooperation with Ukraine that pursues economic reforms, despite
facing the hardest times in its history.
