On the results of the meeting the Regional Commission for emergency situations which was chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in Lviv with participation of representatives of municipal authorities and leadership of the region there was taken a decision on the allocation to the Lviv Municipal Council of a land plot for design and construction of a new landfill for solid waste. This was announced by Prime Minister following the meeting at the Lviv regional state administration.

"Today we have made a decision at the Commissions meeting that one of the plots that were put up to auction will be removed from it and handed over to the Lviv Municipal Council quickly, so that they would begin project development and construction of such a dumping ground and a waste recycling complex, stressed Volodymyr Groysman. The task of today for Lviv is to start this work immediately".

It concerns the plot for a new landfill in Yavoriv area.

Within 6 months the mayor is able to build the new garbage dump, a sorting station in order to avoid any threats and after 6 months to safely dispose sorted garbage, explained Volodymyr Groysman.

The Head of the Government highlighted it is vital to advance fast and achieve results each week.

Speaking about the problem of garbage disposal in Lviv, the Prime Minister accentuated that the topmost task is to quickly restore order and cleanliness in the city so that people would not feel uncomfortable.

Moreover, a new modern waste treatment complex proves necessary for the city, thats why a new land plot is needed.

In this regard, he thanked Chairman of Regional State Administration Oleh Syniutka for the taken after a meeting with Prime Minister steps aimed to solve the problem and finding new territory.

Speaking about the construction of the waste recycling plant, the Prime Minister stressed that in September the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine had confirmed that Lviv could participate in this project in cooperation with the European Investment Bank. The city should work with the EIB to finalize the project.

However, even without borrowing the city budget can handle the issue, said Volodymyr Groysman. In particular, the development budget of the city in 2017 makes up UAH 1 billion 800 million.

Prime Minister reassured of readiness to support solving of the problem of solid waste handling in Lviv and added it is within the area of responsibility of local authorities to make the landfill an economically safe, technologically efficient site, enabling to keep the entire Lviv region clean.

"As the Prime Minister I am ready to do everything in power to ensure making all necessary decisions and to accelerate this process," he said.
